MEET THE FOUNDER
Hi, I’m Mary, the owner and creative mind behind Dulcemar Creations.
An often asked question is if my name is Dulcemar. The answer is no, it’s my daugther’s first name. I’ve always pictured having a girl as my first born and have always loved the name Dulce, I simply added the first three letters of my name and that’s how I came up with Dulcemar. Mar also means sea, and if you know me personally, you know I love the beach and lakes; Lake Tahoe to be more specific.
Dulcemar Creations started as a little hobby of mine as a stress reliever outlet from a 9 to 5 job I had 11 years ago as an office manager of an export and import wholesale company. Little did I know, that the creativity that has always been inside me, would let me to what today I proudly call Dulcemar Creations.
Fun fact is that I used to do handmade invitations for friends and family during my teen years. I would customize them according to their theme and made matching party favors (recuerdos) for their special event.
I attended Los Angeles Mission College, Antelope Valley College, and California State University of Bakersfield. I have a degree in interdisciplinary studies, bookkeeping, and business administration.
When I’m not designing or producing events, you can find me making waffles or taquitos dorados (deep fried tacos) for my three kids, taking them to softball, ballet classes, girl scouts, tutoring, or eating ice cream at our favorite place. I also volunteer my time at my kid’s schools.
All of our wood props are build in house by my husband and dad.
Spending quality time with my family is what I enjoy the most. On Sundays you can find me at my parents house for our weekly hang out with lots of food.
